Barbara Rubin

Barbara Rubin: I met Barbara, an underground film-maker in New York in 1964 at a friend’s place and we became immediate friends. She had a quite extraordinary talent for connecting people. Aged about 18, she helped organise the sold out International Poetry Incarnation at London’s Albert Hall in 1965. She introduced Velvet Underground to Andy Warhol. She nursed Bob Dylan back to health after his motor-bike accident. Lou Reed said, “She was the moving force and coordinator between us all.” An absolute legend.
